— Game menu description from Bejeweled 2

Endless is a game mode that appears in Sweet Tooth To Go, Bejeweled 2 and the Windows Phone 7 version of Bejeweled LIVE.

Endless is a variant of Classic Mode, where the player does not run out of moves, which allows the player to continue their game infinitely.

Overview

Endless is an infinite version of Classic Mode, where the player cannot run out of moves, since the game will always make sure there is at least one move possible. Levelling up does not multiply the amount of points received (except in Bejeweled Live, when levelling up the base score is still multiplied as normal), nor is there a high score board for the game mode. Endless can be used in a form to relax or practice Bejeweled.

Should the game not be able to give any valid moves, however, it will simply drop in a Bomb that automatically explodes upon entering the board.

A collecting system, featured in most versions of the game, is present. In most versions, it appears combined with the score panel. Completing a level adds one diamond to the jewel panel. Jewels appear in 8 different variants in order: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, white, and a shining dark jewel.

The jewels initially fill up in the exterior slots of the panel. Once 7 of them fill up, a small jewel that represents a flower fills up in the middle, with the jewels in the exterior slots continue to fill up with the next color, and vice versa. Once the white jewels are complete, a dark jewel begins to fill up. When the dark jewels are complete, all the jewels are merged into a singular, sparkling black jewel in the exterior slots. They will continue filling up until Level 280, where after said level, the jewel panel is completed and will not change afterwards.

At these certain benchmarks, the Finity game mode will be unlocked:

  • Reaching level 281 (PC/Mac versions)
  • Reaching level 11 (PlayStation 3, PlayStation Portable and Xbox 360 versions)

Trivia

  • This mode, Puzzle mode, and Cognito mode are the only modes in Bejeweled 2 in which the player cannot lose.
  • The collecting system was reused in Bejeweled 3's Zen Mode.
  • In the mobile port versions of Bejeweled 2 and Bejeweled LIVE, the jewel collecting system is omitted. It is instead replaced by an infinite symbol placed next to the Hint and Menu buttons due to the screen size limits.
  • Despite its name, it is possible but super rare for the game to start a level in Endless without any valid moves. It can only happen if there are no Hypercubes on the board when leveling up.
  • In the Astraware version, when reaching level 281, only the small gems on the middle will be reset even though shiny crystal fulfilled the medallion completely, unlike in the other versions. To get the small gems back, players need to reach level 288.
  • This mode, in fact, was appeared in 2002 under the name "Continuous" in the Astraware version of Bejeweled. However, when you quit the game in the middle of the Continuous gameplay, the game will not save (this mode was later renamed into Endless and the game save has been included in the later versions of the game).
