Bejeweled 2 Arcade

Bejeweled 2 Arcade (also called Bejeweled 2 for Arcade Machines) is a timed tile match-3 game developed and published by PopCap Games and adapted by Blueprint Gaming. It is a arcade machine version of Bejeweled 2.

Bejeweled 2 Arcade lacks some features that exist in most versions of Bejeweled 2, there is only one game mode: Arcade.

Bejeweled 2 Arcade was initially released in 2005. (On the almost the same date as Xbox Arcade version)

Gameplay

Gameplay of the Bejeweled 2 Arcade "Timed/Arcade mode"

As with the original Bejeweled timed mode, the game is focused on arranging gems into lines of 3 or more to clear them from the board. When a group of gems are cleared, more gems fall down from the board, which can produce cascades, leading to earning extra points for seperate level bar, unlike Bejeweled 2 Action mode, score not effects on TIME bar (which replaces the progression bar) which does not stop while making any matches. (in Bejeweled 2 Deluxe you can abuse this to stop time if you will do non-stop illegal matches to have almost endless time.)

By completing levels time will decrease like in Action mode, but also cash prize will be bigger when you reach each color pod.

The game also introduces the "SHUFFLE" button, which will rearranges all the gems on board when clicked. This button replaces the "MENU" button on the PC version.

As in Bejeweled 2, major additions are the introduction of Special Gems: When more than 3 gems are matched at once, the matched gems will merge to create a Power Gem that can destroy multiple gems 3x3 at once.

When 5 gems or more are lined up in a row, a Hypercube is created, that can destroy all the gems of it's color present on the board when swapped.

Exclusive to the Puzzle etc are Rocks and Bombs.

Game Modes

Bejeweled 2 Arcade features only 2 game modes in total. Arcade and Puzzle (which was unused from this version).

  • Arcade plays as a combined the gameplay rules of Action and Classic, except the TIME bar retracts and does not stop when a move is not made. The player must make matches to fill level bar but time bar can't replenish like in Action mode, the level bar must be filled completely to complete a level before TIME bar become empty completely.
  • Puzzle works the same as in the PC version of Bejeweled 2, but was unused from the game.

Easter eggs

After the first level, these codes will work by default: NETWORK, STARFIELD, NAUSEA (Buggy).
